Actor Charlie Cox has confirmed that he will star in an upcoming, unannounced video game from Sega. Speaking at New York Comic Con, Cox revealed details about the project following his voice work in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Accent mix-up during recording
Cox, who was born in London, is widely known for portraying American vigilante Matt Murdock. According to the actor, the development team at Sega was unaware of his British background when he arrived for his recording sessions.
“I was like, ‘Hi guys, nice to meet you! How are you?’ And all of them went, ‘Oh, he’s English,’” Cox told IGN. He added that the studio had originally intended for the character to be American, leaving him to perform 40 hours of lines in an unfamiliar accent.
Expanded role compared to Expedition 33
The 40 hours spent in the recording booth indicates a substantially larger commitment than his previous video game role. Cox previously stated that recording his lines for Gustave in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 took roughly four hours, though writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen later estimated the duration closer to eight hours.
