Togetherness and character
Swansea City defender Ben Cabango believes the club’s “humble” approach is paying dividends as the team sits at the top of the Championship. Following a four-game international break, Swansea returned to action by coming from a goal down to defeat Norwich.
According to the 26-year-old skipper, it marks the third time this season that the side has overturned a 1-0 deficit. Cabango stated that there is never any panic when the team falls behind, highlighting a strong sense of togetherness and character within the squad.
Swansea have suffered only a single defeat this campaign—away at Southampton—alongside three wins and two draws at home.
Focusing on the next challenge
Cabango credits manager Vitor Matos for instilling confidence, aggression, and belief within the squad. He noted that the manager urges the team to treat every fixture like a cup final without looking too far ahead, maintaining a humble attitude focused on daily improvement.
With iconic former manager John Toshack watching the recent comeback win, Cabango acknowledged that excitement is building among supporters regarding the promotion race. However, he emphasized that the squad views their strong start merely as a platform to build upon.
The team prepares to face Millwall away in a physical and demanding fixture, followed by a home match against third-placed West Ham.
International duty and club return
On a personal level, Cabango returned straight to domestic action following an intense period of top-tier Nations League duty with Wales, which included matches against Portugal, Denmark, and Norway. He earned praise for his performance marshalling Erling Haaland during the win against Norway.
Cabango admitted that playing four matches in two weeks is demanding, but noted that he returned to Swansea feeling confident. He added that the squad successfully shook off any international-break rustiness against Norwich to secure three points.
