Milo Manheim boards Amazon MGM and Miramax's 'Serendipity' redo

The actor has secured a lead role in Michael Showalter's contemporary reinterpretation of the 2001 romantic comedy.

Actor Milo Manheim has joined the cast of the upcoming romantic comedy redo of Serendipity, directed by Michael Showalter for Amazon MGM Studios and Miramax. Specific details regarding the role Manheim will portray have not yet been disclosed.

A contemporary ‘rebuttal’

Announced in August, Showalter’s production is positioned as a contemporary “rebuttal” to the original 2001 film rather than a direct remake or reboot, focusing instead on a new set of characters. Marc Klein, who wrote the original film, penned the script for the new project.

Production duties are being handled by Showalter and Jordana Mollick through Semi-Formal Productions, alongside Simon Fields, who also produced the 2001 release. Executive producers for Miramax include Jonathan Glickman, Alexandra Loewy, and Thom Zadra, alongside Klein.

Growing film and television slate

Manheim’s recent credits include appearances in the Paramount+ series School Spirits and Eli Roth’s horror film Thanksgiving, in addition to his work in the Disney Channel Zombies franchise. He is also slated to star as Flynn Rider in Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Tangled, scheduled for a theatrical release on March 31, 2028.

It remains unconfirmed whether the new Serendipity project is intended for theatrical release or streaming.
