Levoit has introduced the Vital Pet Pro Air Purifier, a $189.99 device designed specifically for pet-friendly households to address common challenges like pet hair, dander, and odors.
Filtration and design features
The machine uses a three-stage filtration system. A washable pre-filter catches larger debris such as pet hair, a main filter targets smaller particles and dander, and an activated carbon filter containing 140 grams of activated carbon is designed to tackle odors.
Additionally, the purifier features a U-shaped air inlet that Levoit states is built to capture airborne pet hair and particles, improve airflow, and prevent the filter from clogging.
Automated cleaning and app modes
The Vital Pet Pro includes automatic cleaning technology that removes accumulated hair and debris from the pre-filter and collects it in a removable tray. A companion app provides specialized modes, including Auto Plus Mode, which monitors changes in air quality and adjusts performance in real time. Another setting, Pet Mode, alternates between running the fan at its highest speed for 15 minutes to capture particulates in the pre-filter and shifting to a lower speed for 60 minutes to maintain air quality while reducing noise and energy consumption.
Performance and usability
Rather than displaying a numerical air-quality reading, the device uses a simple color system: red indicates bad air quality, orange means moderate, green indicates good, and cyan denotes very good.
Testing showed the device is effective at collecting fur and trapping debris. Regarding odor removal, Levoit claims the Vital Pet Pro can remove up to 70% of odors within an hour.
Physical considerations include its size—noted as slightly larger than expected, requiring adequate floor space—and noise levels. The fan is audible at its highest setting, but operates quietly on lower settings or in Sleep Mode for overnight use.
