Jaime Pressly defends 'Mom' co-stars as 'Beautifully Flawed' after Chuck Lorre memoir

Jaime Pressly has spoken out in support of her former 'Mom' co-stars following comments made by co-creator Chuck Lorre in his memoir.

Cast response to memoir

Following remarks published in Chuck Lorre’s memoir, Sitcom, actress Jaime Pressly has defended her former castmates on the CBS sitcom Mom. Pressly, who portrayed Jill Kendall from the show’s second season onward, described her colleagues as an “incredible cast of women” who were “just as beautifully flawed as our characters on the show were.”

In her comments to E! News, Pressly reflected on her seven years on the series, calling the experience refreshing and noting her enjoyment of working with a cast of women “of a certain age” every day.

Chuck Lorre’s memoir comments

In an excerpt from Sitcom, Lorre addressed his initial casting choices for the series, writing that he was unsure whether Anna Faris would be appropriate for the material before ultimately deciding she should play the lead character, Christy Plunkett.

Lorre added in the excerpt that, as years passed, his initial reluctance proved correct, writing that Faris departed the show after six years for reasons that were “not mysterious to anyone on the show.”

Faris starred in the first seven seasons of Mom alongside Allison Janney before leaving the comedy series in 2020. The show ran for eight seasons, concluding in 2021.

Anna Faris’ response

Faris responded to the memoir’s publication via Instagram, stating that the comments were hurtful.

“Of course it hurts. Chuck gave me a job I loved, and for seven years I never took a day of it for granted,” Faris wrote, adding that she remains grateful for the people and the years spent on the program.
