ABC will broadcast the Kaitlin Olson drama series “High Potential” immediately following Super Bowl LXI on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2027. The network announced the programming move during a “Monday Night Football” broadcast, noting that the show will air on both ABC and Disney+.
Network history and previous lead-outs
This marks the first time ABC has broadcast the Super Bowl since 2006, when the network aired an episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” following Super Bowl XL. Previous post-Super Bowl broadcasts on ABC include “Alias” in 2003, “The Practice” in 2000, “Extreme” in 1995, “Davis Rules” in 1991, and “The Wonder Years” in 1988.
In recent years, other networks have used the post-game slot for scripted premieres or alternative programming. CBS aired the series premiere of “Tracker” after Super Bowl LVIII in 2024, drawing 18.44 million viewers. Fox broadcast the game show “The Floor” after Super Bowl LIX in 2025, while NBC utilized Winter Olympics coverage in place of a traditional lead-out in 2022 and 2026.
Season 3 return and ratings
Alongside the Super Bowl announcement, ABC stated that “High Potential” will return for its third season in early 2027, airing on Tuesday nights with next-day streaming on Hulu.
According to network figures covering 35 days of multiplatform viewing across ABC, Hulu, and digital platforms, “High Potential” finished the 2025–2026 broadcast season as the top-rated show among adults aged 18–49, recording a 3.35 rating and averaging 16.01 million viewers.
The series stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan, alongside Daniel Sunjata, Javicia Leslie, Deniz Akdeniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb, and Judy Reyes. Produced by 20th Television, the show is based on the French series “Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI)” and was created for U.S. audiences by Drew Goddard.
